Recomposed Bamboo

Studio Chris Kabel

‘Recomposed Bamboo’ investigates the composition of the bamboo tube, and how this structure can be used more efficiently and aesthetically.

Bamboo gets its greatest strength from the outer part of the stem where most long fibers with a high silicate content are found. These parts are cut out and glued together again. By re-assembling the strips in this way, a collection of profiles is created that offers new possibilities both constructively and aesthetically and can be used in the manufacture of profiles for furniture and utensils that are now made of metal or wood.
Bamboo leaves behind its artisan appearance and connection limitations and is an industrially produced and widely applicable profile.
