The temporary pavilion was designed with a radically new approach: all of the building materials used in the construction of the 250m2 pavilion were borrowed. All of the parts were lashed together with straps and steel strapping bands. Visitors immediately understood that by removing the straps the building could be disassembled and the materials returned to their original owners.
100% borrowed means that there was no screwing, glueing, drilling or sawing. All materials used had to remain intact. The People’s Pavilion was the central meeting point and discussion platform during the first edition of the World Design Event during Dutch Design Week 2017.
