BB. Platform focuses on wearable technology and smart textiles. For the platform, Borre developed a new way of 3D knitting, integrating copper wiring and sensor threads. Various types of sensors, such as GPS, Wi-Fi, and heat control, are woven into the fabric. Examples of designs already developed are a pillow with vibration sensors for Alzheimer’s patients and the BB. Suit. In order to make the use of smart textiles more sustainable, Borre is also looking into the possibilities of sand wiring instead of copper wire.
The basis for the development of textiles by byBorre lies in the mattress industry and the circular knitting machine. Utilizing the technique used in the mattress industry, in which thick fabrics are knitted with filling yarn, Borre has rewritten the programmes for the machines.
